With the choice of three daily departures from Cairns, this Green Island cruise is perfect for visitors with limited time, offering a half or full day experience (up to 7 hours). You will have the choice of a glass bottom boat coral viewing tour or snorkelling equipment.

What To Expect
Green Island
Green Island is a beautiful 6000 year old coral cay. It's the only coral cay on the Great Barrier Reef with a rainforest! You will have a choice of snorkel equipment to snorkel from the white sandy beaches or to stay dry and see the island's reef from the glass bottom boat. Enjoy a walk through the lush rainforest.

Having already visited the reef with Great Adventures, we knew we were in good hands for our Green Island trip. As expected, this trip lived up to everything we had imagined and vastly exceeded our expectations.
The short trip our to Green Island was comfortable on board the ferry where the staff gave you information on all the activities available and gave you the opportunity to book them in advance. We took advantage of the parasailing, sea walker and guided snorkelling tour, all of which were excellent.
The parasailing was good fun and offered stunning views of Green Island and the reef from above. We were lucky to have a friendly captain from Ireland who joked with us and made the experience better.
I got to try the seawalker (helmet) whilst my husband went snorkelling. This was a fun and unique experience which gave me the opportunity to see my first turtle in the wild along with a vast array of other fish including the famous nemo and his family of clownfish. The helmet was very heavy but worth every minute as I got to leave with some very special memories.
We had some free time in between our booked activities and went snorkelling. This was our favourite part of the trip as we saw a multitude of marine life including sea cucumbers, eagle rays and even a dog faced puffer fish. The most special part was having around 20 minutes with a wild sea turtle in which he swam beside us and munched on some sea grass, all the while not caring that we were watching him in awe.
After our own snorkel, we went on the guided snorkel and as much as this was fun and took us out to deeper water, I feel it was more catered to scuba divers and we had seen more marine life on our own shallower water snorkel alone but still, we had a great time.
If you are considering a nice experience on the Great Barrier Reef but don’t have much time, I would thoroughly recommend visiting Green Island with Great Adventures. The opportunity to do and see so much is not to be missed and the staff are always on hand to make sure you have a great day.

A relaxing day snorkelling around Green Island seeing an abundance of fish, turtles and rays.

Had a lovely relaxing day, glorious sunshine! Fish were so colourful and entertaining! Plenty of time to enjoy lovely lunch and read a book waiting for our return ferry!
Good way to explore Green Island

Booked this through a travel agent (happy travels) in Cairns. The booking process and check in were straightforward. The day we went it was raining heavily and the sea was rough so I considered cancelling but decided to go after all. I was offered sea sickness tablets and the staff on board was really helpful. It was just a 50min journey but you should reconsider if seasick.
The island is small and can be explored in half day. You can snorkel and take a short trip on the glass bottom boat - both really nice. Also a walk in the National park but don’t forget to put on plenty off mosquito repellent!!
I didn’t like the Marineland croc park - it all looked sad, the crocs are kept in small enclosures. They also have some fish and turtles. I don’t think it’s worth the 25AUD fee.
The return trip was on time.

For the most part was a very friendly crew - we had a bit of ageism thrust upon us - a younger crew member (female) was going around from row to row telling people about the island and the amenities, then she skipped my grey haired husband and went directly to the people behind us. Then a a short time later, a grey haired crew member (female) came around to explain to us the amenities on the island. My husband was a bit taken aback. Other than that - the ride was good, the island lovely, the staff at the food counters remarkable, the glass bottom boat tour very pleasant. Recommend the eco tour!
