Experience the breathtaking beauty of the World Heritage Great Barrier Reef. From Great Adventures' spacious reef activity platform moored at the majestic Outer Reef, the coral and marine biodiversity is at its most extreme. There’s an abundance of activities for all ages, swimmers and non-swimmers to enjoy. Snorkel and dive or stay dry and discover the reef in the underwater observatory or from the air-conditioned semi-submersible. There’s also a great range of exciting optional activities including scuba diving, scenic helicopter flights and the exclusive Scuba-Doo underwater scooter - these are an additional cost paid on the day.

Amazing Day - Highly Recommend

We went on our Great Barrier Reef trip with Great Adventures and Quicksilver Group in December 2022 and couldn’t have been more delighted. We chose to fly out to the reef giving us the opportunity of a later start without missing any time on the reef. We flew with Nautilus Aviation and had the experience of a lifetime. The stunning views over the barrier reef will stay with us for the rest of our lives and our words couldn’t even begin to do this part of the trip justice. If you can stretch your budget to include the flight, do not even give it a second though, just do it, you wont be disappointed. Upon arrival onto the pontoon, we were given information on the activities available then taken to our scubadoo session which we had prebooked. Again, this was sensational and not to be missed. We have scuba dived many times, including on the reef but the freedom offered on the scubadoo without the need to worry about buoyancy, pressure etc made this a completely different experience. Also keeping your hair dry was another lucky bonus. On the scubadoo, we saw some pristine reef along with many beautiful species of marine life. The highlight of this part was getting to meet Wally, the giant, friendly blue Wrasse. He was inquisitive and keen to photo bomb and be included in our pictures. Again, memories like these are priceless. The rest of the afternoon included snorkelling the reef and taking a trip on the semi submersible boat, both of which showcased the barrier reef in all its glory. The staff were great and went out of their way to make the day enjoyable. We thoroughly recommend booking your barrier reef trip with Great Adventures, the know what they are doing and how to make your day really enjoyable and filled with amazing memories.

Excellent Snorkeling Tour Guide

My family and I were very happy with the snorkel tour we had arranged with the tour guide, Phil, who went out of his way to ensure we had a great experience. He moved at our pace and was quite knowledgeable about the marine life and the various groups’ efforts to restore the coral reefs. On our way back to Cairns, he even provided a list of helpful tips for our upcoming road trip in Australia by canvassing some of his colleagues. If you are going to book a snorkeling tour with this company, I would recommend asking for Phil.

More bleaching than I had realised

A well organised day but I wish we had left out the Green Island option. As for the Reef it was mixed emotions for me. I have wanted to Dive the Great Barrier Reef for years but unfortunately I am now too old, I can however still snorkel so I was really looking forward to this trip. As I said it was well organised with underwater observation and a semi-submersible tour in addition to snorkelling/ I was shocked! I knew the reef was dying but I hadn't realised how bad it was. This has a knock on effect on what fish and marine life is there. So a good, if sad day out.

Nothing Spectacular. Disappointing thought it would be a highlight of vacation.

Beautiful book ride. Not impressed with the Platform location. Would have opted to go out on boat with multiple stops at different locations with less people if done again. Too many people in one location you constantly were running into people or being kicked. Did not see many fish, no turtles, sting rays or anything that stood out. Lunch was okay.
