The good...the reef! The flight back was stellar, gorgeous views.
The downside..taking away so much of the experience..the trip itself was rescheduled 3x times and to top it off the helicopter flight was pulled forward leaving way earlier.
So ended up paying $1500+ for approx 1 hour and 45min on the reef to : get ourselves settled, hoisted into gear, snorkel the reef, get out off the water and change ..as one has to go dry into the helicopter& lunch. The semi-submersible was out of action, there wasn't enough time for the glass bottom boat and had to scoff lunch down due (lunch itself was really nice however) all very rushed and time pressured.
The overall intend was fab, the scheduling and time issues abysmal. For an average experience all up unfortunately. Would recommend the experience gladly if they get their scheduling issues under control and sorted.
After the cruise when we had to fly back, it was chaotic and poorly organized. We were given a fly-back time of 2:35, but we’re made to wait for over an hour since they were flying other passengers over the reef first. Had they given us a time of 3:45 (which is when we eventually flew back), our kids could have enjoyed the reef for a little more time. When we checked in at our allotted 2:35 time, we were simply told to wait by the small raft boat since the helicopter sent available. When we asked what time we could expect the flight, we were told “any minute now”, so we couldn’t really do anything except wait around, which ended up being an hour. Flight back was ok, just about average. Pilot was disinterested and didn’t really tell us anything about the reef or the parts we were flying over.
Bottom line - good experience to fly over the reef, but I would recommend going with a different company.
