We arrive at Fitzroy island around 9am, the first hour is to get familiar with the island go for a self guided walk to Nudy beach and a swim. We hit the water with our boards and snorkel gear, starting with ocean skills, rescues and technique, followed by guided tour looking for turtles and marine creatures along the way, jumping in where possible. We paddle for around 2.5hrs then the after in free time to snorkel and explore and grab some lunch from Foxy's bar.
The boat departs the island at 5pm so there is plenty of time to relax, snorkel and take in the views of the beautiful Fitzroy Island.
Morning tea is provided/Kayak hire for 1hr in the afternoon

We hit the marina for 7.30 am head out on the boat to the island off Cairns called Fitzroy island. it is 45 min by boat, along the journey you will see some beautiful landmarks and tropical landscapes.

Wonderful day, wonderful SUP

Ali is such a wonderful coach and wonderful woman. I did a SUP session with her on NY day at Fitzroy Island. She was amazing at showing me the critical technique so that I was able to do the paddling like real. I absolutely enjoyed it and instantly fell in love with SUP. I saw turtles and fishes swimming pass me. Ali and I had a little talk about life. I was amazed at how awesome this woman is. Thank you Ali you are such a gem and your SUP is just terrific!

Best tour to book in Cairns!!

If you wanna avoid the hustle and bustle and big touristy tours, this is the tour to book! I believe this must be the best way to experience the beautiful Fitzroy Island with the best views!! Snorkeling with the turtles under the board was definitely an unreal experience!! Will definitely book again if i come back to Cairns :-)

My friend and I wanted to head out to Fitzroy for the day and do a paddle board tour. Only thing was that we weren't organised and were looking for next day availability. Thankfully Dan was a gem and got us all sorted the night before for a tour. Since our boat came into the island later than the others we got a private tour with Hannah. She was so down to earth and awesome. The paddling and snorkeling was awesome. She let us choose what we wanted to do and where pretty much, keeping an eye on the currant. Thankfully neither of us fell in and we got to see 3 turtles up close. Thanks guys, would highly recommend!

A lovely day out

The trip to Fitzroy was lovely and chilled. Allie and her neice met me at the reef terminal and we got the ferry to the island early in the morning before spending some time learning paddle board skills and paddling with beautiful green turtles.
They were friendly, knowledgeable and very enthusiastic about the beautiful island and the reef environment; it was such a treat to have a 2 guide to one client ratio!! Such personalised service!! Allie provided a variety of morning snacks and the frozen juice was a real bonus!

After a morning of SUP'ing, I ate at the beach restaurant and then attended the turtle sanctuary tour which is included in the trip and gave a fascinating insight into local turtle conservation. Finally there was time to climb up to the top of the island hill and enjoy the gorgeous view from the top. It was a very hot climb!

One point to be aware of is that the scope of SUP at Fitzroy is limited by the island permits (limited by the marine/national park authorities), so if you are an experienced paddler, it may be worth considering Allie's river trips rather than the island in order to get a more challenging day out!
