My wife and I had just returned to Cairns on Sunday 2 July 2022 from a most interesting trip to the Cairns outback staying at Georgetown, Karumba, Forsayth and Mount Surprise. The following day for us was a free day of leisurely touring of the Cairns CBD with a Spirit of Cairns Dinner Cruise at night.
We were so glad we had booked this cruise. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The Spirit of Cairns Catamaran left from the Marlin Marina at 6:30pm and returned around 9pm. After a welcome drink on arrival, after a walk to the marina in the rain, we were escorted to our table in the catamaranâs air-conditioned dining room for the evening. The tables and chairs were reasonably spaced out and offered some room to move. We settled down to an evening of water cruising on Trinity Inlet enjoying the sun going down over the Inlet and the Cairns city lights at night. And thankfully the rain stopped and we had a very pleasant evening.
We attended as a couple, like many other couples who were there and although all of us were complete strangers, the atmosphere was such that having a conversation with neighbouring guests was a natural and easy affair.
The highlight has to be the splendid array of fine food cooked and well presented and offered as an âall you can eatâ buffet. With dinner offered while travelling on the water, the adventure could best be described as a âmoving gastronomic feastâ. My wife gave their King Prawns the âthumbs upâ going back for several helpings â they were local and very fresh. Both of us declined the oysters on offer as these were not to our fancy. The food was very varied with lots of different salads, antipasto platters and a good selection of hot foods including Vegetarian Pasta Bake, Noodle Stir Fry, Marinated Morrocan Chicken, Herb Crusted Barramundi, a delicious Mushroon Bourguignon and salt and pepper Calamari. The food was kept hot due to the excellent bain maries being used.
The food was well presented with little blackboard food identity signs included to identify the dishes on offer. Also, the staff ensured that guests were invited to the buffet tables in an orderly fashion.
We found the desserts just as appetising and tasty. The selection on offer included a wide selection of regional fruits, gourmet cheeses and crackers, a variety of sweet cakes and puddings and Pavlova.
The wait staff members were very friendly and helpful throughout the night and we were offered a good selection of wines from the wine list at our own expense. For me, the perfect ending to our moving gastronomic feast was to indulge in one of their Long Island Iced Teas â Absolut Vodka, Espolon Tequila, Bacardi Rum, Cointreau, Tanqueray Gin, Lemon Juice, Sugar Syrup and Coke. The combination was quite divine.
As well as having a wonderful dinner experience we also enjoyed the City lights and the leisurely cruise on the smooth waters of Trinity Inlet.
My wife and I really enjoyed this dinner cruise and we would recommend it to anyone looking to do something a little different on one of their nights while in Cairns.

Not bad to try but if the weather good must be beautiful and fun more, the food was good. My opinion give 3-4 stars not bad to try on.
